Turn that frown, upside down!

Everyone has those days where you are not feeling yourself. Whether it is stress, anxiety or  you are just feeling bit down, it’s never nice to stay this way for long. Here are some of the things I do to feel more like me again!

A relaxing soak in the bath

When I’m feeling stressed or anxious, lying in a bubble bath, with a possible Lush bath bomb thrown in, surrounded by candles, really does do the trick. It is the ultimate way to de-stress in my eyes. Paired with a yummy hot chocolate (or glass of wine!) a bath for me, never fails.

A hot drink

They say “a cup of tea fixes everything”! There is something quiet calming about taking a breather, and putting on the kettle, before settling down to your favourite hot beverage. So whether its a English Breakfast blend, a peppermint tea or a hot chocolate topped with cream and marshmallows, go and stick on the kettle!

Watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S

For me it’s ‘Friends”, but whatever your favourite comedy series or film is, put it on. Laughter really is the best medicine!

A good lipstick

Elizabeth Taylor said “put on some lipstick and pull yourself together”. And there is some truth in this. We all want to stay inside and mope after a break-up or a serious of bad days. But when you feel like you look good on the outside, that can help reflect how you are feeling on the inside. And what’s more empowering than putting on Mac’s Ruby Woo and have a killer set of eyebrows?!

Exercise

It is scientifically proven that exercising releases endorphins. Now I’m not saying everyone is up for a two hour long hardcore gym sesh, but doing something physical really is an effective way to make you feel happier. If it’s a nice day, go for a run around your local park! Do some yoga, go to a ballroom dance class! Get yourself moving and you may just find a new hobby along the way.

Meeting up with your best mates

When you are feeling a bit down or stressed out, it’s easy to lock yourself away. But from experience, the second I’ve forced myself to get out and meet a friend, my mood immediately lifts. Your friends are your biggest cheerleaders and are always there to pick you up when you’re feeling down. So give your bestie a watsapp and make a date!
